UNITED NATIONS BLACK AND WHITE
The work‘United Nations Black And White’was realized in the year 2003. It is made of the flags of the 51 founding members of the United Nations.
"Peace, Equality, Justice" are the founding countries' goals and ideals, which are also the dream of all mankind...
The installation consists of an outdoor and an indoor part:
outdoors on high flagpoles the 51 flags of the founding member states are flown, reduced to the basic colors black and white. The indoor exhibition captures the atmosphere of the signing of the UN Charter on 26 June 1945 in San Francisco; it shows photos of the signing ceremony, painted on the scene in oil on canvas, a sound installation of typing the UN Charter, as well as the flags of the founding member states in a half-circle.
